Like many doulas, my journey into this work began after the birth of my daughter. In those vulnerable early postpartum weeks, when I was feeling anxious, unsure of myself, and utterly sleep-deprived, I sought the support of a postpartum doula. Her kindness and expertise made a profound impact in just a few sessions, not only easing my short-term recovery and adjustment, but also shifting the way I think about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.

Historically, women have given birth and cared for newborns surrounded by a community of nurturing, supportive, and knowledgeable individuals. Unfortunately, this is no longer the reality for many mothers. One key reason is that many of us live far from family and friends, missing out on that in-person support. Even when loved ones are nearby, there can be gaps in the type or amount of help they’re able to provide. This is where a doula steps in. Trained to offer personalized in-home care, I provide emotional and physical support, education, and resources for new mothers and their families. This is at the heart of the care I offer.

Before becoming a doula, I worked as a Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT – CA), which I believe strengthens the emotional and family-centered support I provide in my doula work. Please note, however, that I am not currently practicing as a therapist in Virginia, and my services are limited to the role of a doula. My qualifications include a Master’s in Psychology, Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology, Postpartum Doula Training with DONA International, Birth Doula Training with DONA International, and current Adult, Child, and Infant First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

I primarily offer antepartum (before birth) and postpartum (after birth) care. While my availability for birth support is currently limited, I would be happy to discuss options with you.
